60-Day Grace Period for Runaway Workers Granted to Correct Status
The initiative gives workers until January 29th to transfer their services to another employer through the Qiwa platform.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has launched a 60-day grace period allowing workers with absence reports to rectify their status. The initiative, facilitated through the Qiwa platform, gives workers until January 29th to transfer their services to another employer if they meet the necessary conditions.
The ministry emphasized the importance of using this period to ensure compliance with the kingdom’s labour laws. Qiwa has streamlined the process to allow workers to manage their status correction digitally, making it easier for employers and employees alike. Text messages are being sent to those affected to ensure they are aware of the opportunity to transfer their services.
The grace period is part of ongoing efforts by the ministry to enhance labour stability in the country, as well as to provide a smoother transition for workers looking to adjust their legal standing. In addition, Qiwa offers workers the ability to obtain salary certificates and work experience documentation through its platform. These services are provided free of charge.
