Abu Dhabi Named World’s Safest City for 10th Year

Abu Dhabi has been ranked the world’s safest city for the tenth year in a row, according to the latest safety index published by Numbeo. The emirate has held the top position continuously since 2017 and retained first place again in 2025, outperforming 382 cities worldwide in the annual ranking.
The sustained ranking reflects Abu Dhabi’s long-term performance across indicators linked to public safety, crime perception, and overall security. The result places the emirate ahead of major global cities, reinforcing its standing as one of the most secure urban environments internationally.
Separate findings from the 2025 Expat Insider survey by InterNations add context to the safety ranking. According to the survey, 18% of expatriates living in the United Arab Emirates plan to remain in the country for the foreseeable future, while 39% said they are undecided about their long-term plans. Safety and stability are among the factors frequently cited by expatriates when assessing quality of life and long-term residency decisions.
