Al-Azhar Permits Zakat for Gaza Reconstruction & Humanitarian Aid
The centre urged that contributions be made through recognised charitable institutions to ensure efficacy in delivering aid.

Al-Azhar Global Center for Electronic Fatwa has announced that it is permissible to allocate Zakat funds for the reconstruction of Gaza, providing shelter to its residents, and delivering essential food and medical supplies. The centre emphasised that those contributing Zakat for this cause receive a double reward: the reward of giving Zakat, and the reward for relieving the suffering of those in need and supporting justice.
In a statement, Al-Azhar underscored the importance of donating through lawful and trusted channels to ensure that Zakat reaches its intended recipients and fulfills its humanitarian purpose effectively.
The centre called for collective efforts to rebuild Gaza, which has endured more than 15 months of destruction by Israeli forces. It noted that aiding Gaza is a moral and religious duty, highlighting the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The centre concluded by urging that contributions be made through recognised charitable institutions to ensure transparency and effectiveness in delivering aid and supporting Gaza's reconstruction.
