CBE Declares Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, a Bank Holiday in Egypt
The CBE confirmed that banking operations will resume on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025.
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced that Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, will be a public holiday for all banks in Egypt.
This marks the conclusion of the financial year for most banks, which ends on December 31, 2024. In a statement, the CBE confirmed that banking operations will resume on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025.
The financial year for Egyptian banks aligns with the calendar year, running from January 1st to December 31st. During this period, banks finalise their accounts, perform audits, and prepare financial statements. The CBE provides guidance for these processes and may designate holidays to support the smooth completion of year-end procedures.
