'Consecrated Networks' Exhibit Reexamines the Modern World at ATHR
Running until May 14th, ‘Consecrated Networks’ is the first solo exhibit by award-winning Saudi artist Bashmah Felemban.
Saudi artist and graphic designer Basmah Felemban has launched her first solo exhibition, running at Jeddah’s prestigious ATHR gallery until May 14th. Curated by Ruba Al Sweel, the exhibition, titled ‘Consecrated Networks’, is a study of ‘information-organisation’. Crossing many mediums, including painting, sculpture and even an interactive video game, her artworks put her education in Islamic and traditional art through a contemporary perspective.
Felemban’s work has seen success since she was in high school, with her first publicly exhibited work ‘Jeem’ making its debut at the British Museum in 2012 as part of ‘Journey to the Heart of Islam: Hajj Exhibition’, before becoming the recipient of the Arab Women Awards’ ‘Young Talent’ award in 2014. Since then, her work has appeared in various regional and global exhibitions, including Art Dubai and the Venice Biennale.
