Customs Authority Launches ‘Telephony’ App to Register Imported Phones

Following the decision to regulate mobile phone imports, the Egyptian Customs Authority has launched a mobile application that enables consumers to register their imported mobile phones, specifically ones which were not authorised. The app functions only in Egypt, and will be available on both Android and iOS app stores. It aims to streamline the process of authorisation for imported mobile devices.

Users can register their phones by copying their IMEI address and pasting it into the Telephony app, which will then allow them to check the status of their phones as either authorised or unauthorised. Each user has a limited number of trials to check their phone’s status.
