Domestic Winter Flight Bookings in Saudi Arabia Rise 64%
Wego data shows rising demand for short experience-led domestic trips.
Domestic winter flight bookings within Saudi Arabia rose 64% year-on-year as residents opted for short, experience-led trips across the Kingdom. The figures are based on recent travel data from Wego, which identified a marked increase in demand for domestic travel during the winter period. Wego noted that milder temperatures and a wide range of tourism options encouraged travellers to spend their holidays within the country, exploring cultural, recreational and natural destinations.
Riyadh remained the top domestic winter destination, with bookings up 59.44% year-on-year, driven by the ongoing Riyadh Season 2025–2026. The city’s programme includes concerts, sporting events, dining experiences and large-scale entertainment drawing visitors from across the Kingdom.
Scenic destinations also recorded strong gains: flight bookings to Taif rose 67.97% year-on-year, while Tabuk saw a 40.90% increase. Wego reported growing demand for outdoor-led itineraries suitable for long weekends and family trips. The expansion of travel options and entertainment offerings, alongside growth in the local hospitality sector, has broadened domestic travel choices.
Booking behaviour reflected both early planning and last-minute decisions. While most domestic trips were planned slightly more than two weeks in advance, around 21% of bookings were made within a day of travel.
