Dubai Launches Permit Service for Residential Parking Shades

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has introduced a new permit service allowing the installation of parking shades in residential neighbourhoods, limited to designated and properly reserved parking spaces. The service is available through the authority’s website and is intended to respond to resident feedback on rising summer temperatures and increasing vehicle numbers.
According to the authority, all parking shades must be temporary structures, allowing removal when required for development works, maintenance, or emergency access.
Applications must be submitted by approved contracting companies via a unified digital portal that coordinates approvals across relevant authorities. The Roads and Transport Authority said the system is designed to streamline the application process while ensuring installations comply with safety, planning and design requirements, and preserve Dubai’s urban and visual character.
