Dubai Ports Authority Uses AI for Automated Approvals & Permits
The system processes approximately 44,000 transactions annually and enables instant issuance for eligible requests.
The Dubai Ports Authority, part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, is using artificial intelligence and robotic process automation to issue operational approvals and safe work permits in Dubai. The system processes approximately 44,000 transactions annually and enables instant issuance for eligible requests after automated verification of data and requirements, while exceptions are routed to human review.
According to the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, the smart system covers cases that fully comply with technical and safety standards and includes specific categories of approvals such as acceptance of dangerous goods at the port, vessel bunkering operations, ship waste discharge to reception facilities, and safe work permits in ports and ship repair facilities.
The Corporation stated that the launch of this first smart system is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of the government ecosystem and advance a sustainable digital transformation of operational processes. The project aligns with a comprehensive artificial intelligence strategy to shift services toward self-managed processes while enhancing safety and operational efficiency at Dubai ports.
