Dubai’s First Professional Baseball Park Hits Home Run at The Sevens
Baseball United's venue, named after Barry MLB Hall of Famer Barry Larkin, will feature advanced tech and modular seating.
Baseball United, the first league dedicated to promoting professional baseball in the Middle East and South Asia, has announced plans to build the region’s first-ever professional baseball ballpark in Dubai’s The Sevens.
Reflecting Dubai’s futuristic atmosphere, the ballpark promises to be a tech-forward venue. It will feature a dual-fiber synthetic turf with an organic infill and geotextile fabric designed to withstand Dubai’s intense heat. The field will be illuminated by 15 million lumens across eight lighting towers and 94 fixtures, and will include advanced technology for precise hit, pitch and catch tracking.
Seating will be movable, accommodating up to 6,500 fans with optimal views of the game. The design includes above-ground dugouts, well-defined foul lines and professional-grade netting, complemented by a vintage scoreboard inspired by 19th-century US ballparks. Dimensions will be modeled after Yankee Stadium.
The field will be named after MLB legend and Baseball United Co-Founder Barry Larkin. "I’m honoured to have my name associated with this historic field,” Larkin, a Hall of Famer and 12-time All-Star, says. “We’ve already played the first professional baseball games in the UAE, and now, to have a field and ballpark of our own – it’s incredible."
Construction is set to begin this week, with completion expected by the end of 2024
