Egypt & China to Establish Joint Lab for Smart Agriculture
The lab will see Egyptian and Chinese researchers collaborate more intensely on smart agriculture, tackling issues of desertification and the cultivation of salt-tolerant crops.

Egypt's National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to establish a joint laboratory for smart agriculture.
The lab will see Egyptian and Chinese researchers collaborate more intensely on smart agriculture, tackling issues of desertification and the cultivation of salt-tolerant crops. This agreement was made as part of China's Belt and Road Initiative, which serves to enhance global infrastructure from East Asia to Europe, and coincides with the 65th anniversary of China and Egypt's diplomatic relations.
This will be the second joint lab in Egypt to be formed under China's Belt and Road Initiative, after the establishment of the Chinese-Egyptian Renewable Energy Laboratory.
