Egypt & Italy Sign Deal to Establish 89 Applied Technology Schools
Cairo and Rome agree on a plan to open 89 new vocational-tech schools across Egypt under international standards and expanded public-private cooperation.
The governments of Egypt and Italy have signed a landmark agreement to establish 89 new Applied Technology Schools across Egypt. The deal was finalised in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The agreement was signed by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education together with several Egyptian ministries, state-owned enterprises and private partners.
On the Italian side, a number of technical institutes and academies will contribute expertise and curricula. Egypt’s aim is to expand technical and vocational training to meet international standards and better align graduates’ skills with the demands of the job market at home and abroad.
The collaboration will include quality assurance measures, skills development programmes, and training that reflects international best practices. I
talian partners involved in the initiative include the Ingegneria San Paolo Foundation, the ITS Agro Academy, the Technological Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries, and several others specialising in mobility, sustainable industries and technical trades.
According to the Egyptian government, the move signals a deeper phase of Egypt-Italy cooperation focusing on education, labour skills and long-term human-capital development — steps considered central to building a more competitive, knowledge-based economy.
