Egypt Will Host 2027 African Games
The hosting announcement follows Egypt’s 191-medal finish at the 2024 African Games in Ghana.
Egypt will host the 14th edition of the African Games, scheduled to take place from January 20th to February 7th, 2027.
The agreement was finalised between Egypt’s ambassador to Ethiopia and a representative of the African Union, marking the second time Egypt will host the continental event following its first edition in 1991.
The announcement follows Egypt’s performance at the 2024 African Games in Ghana, where its athletes secured 191 medals, including 101 gold medals across multiple disciplines.
Regarded as Africa’s premier multi-sport competition, the African Games bring together thousands of athletes from across the continent. The 2027 edition will see delegations compete in Egypt across a range of Olympic and non-Olympic sports.
