2.79 Million Vehicles Used Roads to Makkah’s Grand Mosque in Ramadan

More than 2.79 million vehicles used roads leading to the Grand Mosque between the 1st and 28th of Ramadan, according to figures released by Saudi Arabia’s Roads General Authority.

The authority said the figure reflects vehicle movements recorded along routes serving the Grand Mosque throughout most of the holy month, when large numbers of worshippers travel to Makkah to perform prayers and religious rituals.

The data was compiled as part of the authority’s operational readiness measures and technical preparations during Ramadan, which focus on supporting safe and smooth access for worshippers approaching the Grand Mosque.

Issued in Makkah on March 18th, the update highlighted the volume of vehicles recorded during the period while reiterating the authority’s emphasis on maintaining efficient road access to the site during peak religious activity.

The Roads General Authority said monitoring traffic volumes forms part of broader operational planning aimed at ensuring road networks around the Grand Mosque can accommodate increased demand during Ramadan.
