Civil Defense Reinforces Safety Operations in Makkah & Madinah
Measures include preventive safety, fire protection systems and rapid emergency response during the last 10 days of Ramadan.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense has reinforced safety operations across Makkah and Madinah for the final 10 days of Ramadan, deploying additional safety patrols and rapid response units to support worshippers visiting the Two Holy Mosques.
The measures focus on areas surrounding the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, which experience some of the highest visitor numbers during the final days of the holy month.
Civil Defense stated that the operations aim to strengthen preventive safety protocols, ensure the effective operation of fire protection systems, and guarantee rapid emergency response if incidents occur.
Authorities are also prioritising safety measures for visitor accommodation in the central districts surrounding the Two Holy Mosques, where large numbers of pilgrims and worshippers stay during Ramadan.
The directorate said it has also ensured the availability of safe assembly points outside these facilities to support evacuation procedures and maximise safety for visitors and pilgrims during peak periods.
The final 10 days of Ramadan typically bring a surge of worshippers to Makkah and Madinah, particularly for late-night prayers and the observance of Laylat Al Qadr, one of the most significant nights in the Islamic calendar.
