CAPMAS: 43% of Egyptians Have Social Media Accounts
Facebook leads with 51.6 million users, followed by YouTube at 49.3 million.
43.4% of Egyptians have accounts on social media platforms, with Facebook the most used platform at 51.6 million users, followed by YouTube with 49.3 million and TikTok with 48.8 million among users aged 18 and above.
The figures appear in an Egyptian government report compiling indicators of the shift from traditional to digital media. Issued by the Information and Decision Support Center and drawing on Kepios data up to October 2025, the report states that digital media in Egypt is developing rapidly alongside advances in artificial intelligence that have improved content production and audience interaction. It also outlines broader internet adoption: mobile internet users reached 92.6 million by December 2025, equal to 75.3% of total mobile subscriptions, while fixed internet subscriptions stood at 12.7 million.
Separately, the House of Representatives has begun deliberations on a draft law to regulate children’s use of technology, with a final version to be prepared for a vote in coordination with several government bodies including the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education, and provisions to require digital platforms to verify users’ ages.
