Egypt’s Foreign Reserves Hit Record USD 52.59 Billion in January 2026

Net international reserves stood at USD 52.59 billion, equivalent to EGP 2.46 trillion, at the end of January 2026, according to figures released on February 5th by the Central Bank of Egypt.

The total represents an increase of around USD 1.14 billion, or EGP 53.5 billion, compared to USD 51.4 billion (EGP 2.41 trillion) recorded at the end of December 2025.

Monthly data published by the central bank shows reserves have been rising steadily since early 2024. By the end of April that year, reserves had reached USD 41 billion, marking their highest level in four years at the time.

The upward movement followed corrective monetary measures introduced in March 2024, including a six percent increase in interest rates.

The January 2026 reading confirms that the upward trajectory has continued into the new year. The central bank’s monthly releases provide headline reserve totals in both United States dollars and Egyptian pounds, reflecting the closing position at the end of each month.
