Egyptian Team Wins Gold at Fencing World Cup Event in Budapest

Egypt’s national men’s sabre team—composed of Ziad El-Sisi, Mohamed Amer, Adham Moataz, and Mazen El-Araby—has secured the gold medal at the 2025 Fencing World Cup in Budapest, defeating some of the world’s top-ranked teams in a series of high-stakes matches.

Ranked seventh globally, the Egyptian team opened their knockout-stage campaign with a victory over world no. 1 South Korea, the reigning Olympic champions in the Men’s Saber Team event at Paris 2024, in the quarter-finals.

In the semi-finals, Egypt overcame fourth-ranked France, who previously claimed bronze at the last Olympics. The team then advanced to the final, where they defeated host nation Hungary to secure the title.

Held in Hungary’s capital, the Fencing World Cup is one of the International Fencing Federation’s (FIE) most prestigious annual events, drawing elite competitors from around the world. Egypt’s victory in Budapest further solidifies its rising global status in fencing and boosts its position heading into Olympic qualification.
