Egyptian Wrestler Karam Gaber Announces Retirement from Wrestling
The Olympic medalist will be continuing his legacy in the training field following an injury.
44-year-old Egyptian wrestler Karam Gaber has, as a result of injury, announced his retirement from competitive wrestling. He has announced on his personal Facebook page that he will instead be passing down his expertise through training the national leagues.
Gaber has established a legacy for himself as one of the most decorated figures of the Egyptian wrestling field, having won a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics, a silver medal at the 2003 World Championships, and another silver at the 2012 London Olympics. The athlete was preparing to participate in the African championship that qualifies him for the Olympics when he was struck by injury and instead announced his retirement.
