Green Certificate Now Required at Red Sea Hotels & Diving Centres
The hotels and centres must abide by the new regulations and attain the certifications within six months of the announcement.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities now requires all Red Sea hotels and diving centres to obtain a Green Certificate from domestic or internationally accredited centres to showcase their commitment to sustainable tourism. This announcement comes along with the ministry’s proposed initiative to move towards an eco-friendly tourism sector along with a more sustainable national economy.
The initiative began in 2022 following the COP27 conference held in Sharm El Sheikh and has seen the city transform into a green city as per international standards. The ministry has informed hotels and diving centres in the Red Sea Governorate that they must abide by the new regulations and attain the certifications within six months of the announcement.
