Green Innovation Competition Calls on Young Trailblazers

Saving the Earth from climate change and pollution doesn't start with world governments coming together in one big dramatic venture like they're fighting kaijus in 'Pacific Rim' (although we wouldn't complain if we started enforcing environmentalism with giant robots). It starts with the smaller kaijus that people find too endearing to squish, the seemingly tiny habits that nip away at our electricity and keep the tap water running and toss trash onto the sidewalk.

In coordination with social non-profits Drosos Foundation and FLDO (Future Lights Foundation for Development), the Ministry of Environment is sponsoring the 'Green Innovation' competition, where they call upon young trailblazers aged 21 to 45 to come up with small-scale projects to save the environment. This year, they're looking for projects that focus on the best ways to recycle plastic, wood and cloth.

The prizes range from EGP 5,000 to EGP 15,000. For more information, you can check out the Ministry of Environment's social media at @egy.environment.
