Intensive Training Programme Launched to Reduce High C-Section Rates
The Ministry of Health and Population is trying to reduce unnecessary caesarean section operations occurring in Egypt.
In light of Egypt’s position as the country with the highest rate of caesarean sections worldwide, the Ministry of Health and Population has launched an intensive training programme for obstetricians and gynaecologists to reduce unnecessary caesarean sections across Egypt.
The programme is being led by senior medical professors from Egyptian universities, and aims to teach practising doctors about the latest and safest treatment protocols, as well as the latest diagnoses in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.
The goal is to reduce the incidence rate of caesarean births overall, as well as reduce the need for neonatal care post-caesarean, and to provide women with sound options for family-planning and maintaining their reproductive health.
The first event of the programme was held in Alexandria with over 90 doctors in attendance, but the ministry expects more than 1,000 doctors across the country to benefit from the programme before the end of the year.
