Applications have opened for itikaf at Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid Al-Nabawi in Madinah.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old, and either be a resident of Saudi Arabia or hold valid residency status. Itikaf permits are free, and registration requests can be submitted through the official website for the Two Holy Mosques.
Itikaf is an Islamic practice of seclusion that occurs during the final 10 days of Ramadan. Worshippers dedicate themselves to prayer and spiritual reflection during what are considered the holiest nights of the year.
