We’re here in Luxor amongst VIPs and dignitaries as we await a grand opening ceremony, hosted by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, to mark the reopening of the ancient Sphinx Avenue, a sacred road, once named "The Path of God," connecting the Temples of Karnak.
Thousands of years ago, the Opet Festival saw golden barques carried down the Sphinx Avenue; a majestic procession that brought statues of the gods from Karnak Temple to Luxor Temple. Now, upon the reopening of these newly restored Luxor monuments, this ancient ceremony has been recreated for the majestic Sphinx Avenue Parade, bringing Egyptian heritage blazing back to life.
