With an area of 64,000 square metres and 185,000 spinning mills creating 60 tons of yarn a day, the Ghazl-1 Factory will be built in El Mahalla City, further empowering Egypt’s iconic cotton industry.
Egypt’s white gold, cotton, has always been a cultural staple and one of Egypt’s most sought-after products worldwide, with Egyptian cotton being coded for impeccable quality. The product may soon return to its former glory with plans to establish a new spinning factory in El Mahalla City - set to be the largest such factory in the world.
With an area of 64,000 square metres and 185,000 spinning mills producing almost 60 tons of yarn per day, the Ghazl-1 Factory will be owned by the public Masr Spinning and Weaving Company. The factory’s development is part of an overall vision empowering Egypt’s public sector spinning and weaving industry with EGP 25 million invested into the project.
Originally scheduled to launch in March 2022, Ghazl-1 Factory’s inauguration was postponed due to delays caused by COVID-19 pandemic. The first experimental phase is set to launch in 2023, with 80% of the construction already completed.
