Louvre Abu Dhabi Announces Shortlist & Jury for Art Here 2024
This year’s edition is the first time the jury will consist of renowned cultural figures from North Africa and GCC nations.
The Louvre Abu Dhabi has announced their artists shortlist and jury for the fourth edition of their annual art exhibition, Art Here 2024, as well as the Richard Mille Art Prize.
This year’s edition is the first time the jury will consist of renowned cultural figures from North Africa, as well as from the GCC countries. Prominent jury members include Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, a prominent patron and collector of the arts, as well as Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, Guilhem André, Scientific Curatorial and Collection Management Director at Louvre Abu Dhabi, renowned Emirati poet Nujoom Alghanem, and Maya Allison, Founding Director of the Art Gallery and Chief Curator at New York University Abu Dhabi.
The theme of this year’s exhibition is ‘Awakenings’, with submitting artists having been tasked with focusing on ideas of openness in visual forms. Finished artworks will be on display at the museum from September 20th to December 15th.
Works by five artists from the UAE, Tunisia and Egypt have been shortlisted from a total of 230 submissions. Each will be displayed at the Art Here 2024 exhibition, competing for the Richard Mille Art Prize and its USD 60,000 cash award.
