The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has outlined a plan to reduce reliance on traditional energy sources and fossil fuels, including the addition of 22,815 megawatts of solar and wind energy to the national grid by 2030, alongside the introduction of battery storage technology.
The plan to upgrade the national grid looks to increase efficiency, reduce energy loss, and transition from a conventional network to a smart grid using the latest technology.
The initiative aligns with the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. It aims to increase the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix to 42% by 2030 and 65% by 2040.
