Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rejects Proposal to Relocate Palestinians
The ministry issued a strong statement rejecting US President Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians to Egypt.
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement rejecting US President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt.
Trump’s remarks, made aboard Air Force One, suggested the relocation of approximately 1.5 million Palestinians from Gaza to neighbouring countries, including Egypt and Jordan, as a temporary or long-term solution to the ongoing conflict. The US president described the plan to “just clean out that whole thing,” in reference to the Gaza Strip, and constructing new housing for displaced Palestinians “in a different location.”
Egypt’s foreign ministry categorically dismissed any initiative that involves forced displacement or resettlement, emphasising that such actions would undermine regional stability and exacerbate the conflict.
Jordan has also rejected the proposal, with its foreign minister, Ayman Safadi, calling the two-state solution the only viable path to peace.
