Ministry of Labour Launches Campaign to Protect Delivery Workers

The Ministry of Labour has launched a national campaign titled Your Safety Matters to improve protections for delivery workers, especially those operating motorcycles, bicycles or cars. The first phase targets workers with no formal employer, many of whom remain uninsured and unregistered, offering them free safety kits and awareness sessions on traffic rules.

Thousands of delivery workers across Egypt operate without basic safety equipment or workplace protections, making them especially vulnerable to injury. As part of the campaign, helmets, gloves, masks, and first aid kits will be distributed, while a national inspection drive will begin to monitor work conditions.

A detailed code of conduct and safety guide tailored to delivery services is in development. The ministry is also working with companies to provide training, register workers and contribute to a central insurance fund that covers health, pension and workplace injury. A hotline and online platform are being created to handle worker complaints directly.
