NEOM Signs Investment Deal With Construction Robot Leader GMT Robotic
GMT Robotics, based in Copenhagen, designs robotic systems for rebar assembly, enhancing efficiency and cutting workforce needs by 90%.
Saudi giga-project NEOM has signed an investment agreement with GMT Robotics, a European leader in advanced construction technology. This deal, facilitated by NEOM’s strategic investment arm, NEOM Investment Fund (NIF), will accelerate the use of robotics in construction, supporting the region's expansive infrastructure projects and modernising construction techniques, including automation.
GMT Robotics, based in Copenhagen, specialises in robotic systems for producing reinforcing bars used in construction. These systems, which handle rebar cage assembly and logistics, improve efficiency and safety while reducing onsite workforce requirements by up to 90%. The collaboration will localise this technology, with rebar cages produced in NEOM’s factories, offering new opportunities for Saudi engineers to expand the use of robotics in construction.
With the global construction robotics market valued at USD 168.2 million in 2022 and expected to reach USD 774.6 million by 2032, this investment looks to reinforce NEOM’s role in driving the adoption of advanced technologies within the construction sector.
