National Council for Women Launches Campaign in Alexandria’s Trams

The National Council for Women has launched the first phase of its awareness program, ‘Your Journey is Safe’, in Al Raml Tram in Alexandria. This initiative aims to raise awareness about violence against women and promote women's economic empowerment amongst Alexandria’s tram commuters.

The ‘Your Journey is Safe’ campaign consists of two phases: the first involves training 200 students from Alexandria University on how to promote the campaign’s messages, while the second involves having those students directly engage with tram passengers. The messages include the importance of reporting harassment, as well as promoting women's economic independence and self-development for financial security.

The initiative is part of a project to rehabilitate and renovate tram stations in Alexandria, implemented in collaboration with the National Authority for Tunnels, the Ministry of Transportation, and the French Development Agency, with funding from the European Union.
