National Council for Women Files Report Against Tijaniyya Sheikh
The report was filed following the circulation of a viral post accusing him of sexual assault.
Egypt’s National Council for Women (NCW) has filed a complaint with the Attorney General against a Sheikh of the Tijaniyya Order following a social media post from a woman detailing her experiences of sexual abuse by the accused. The council’s Women’s Complaints Office has also identified similar posts from three other women alleging misconduct by the same individual.
In a statement, the council emphasized its responsibility to receive and investigate complaints related to violations of women’s rights and freedoms, referring them to the appropriate authorities.
