New Plant Will Treat Water in Suez from Oil Well Contamination
This smart wastewater treatment plan cost USD 8 million and is the first of its kind in Egypt.
Egypt’s first smart wastewater treatment plant dedicated to dealing with contamination from oil wells has been inaugurated in the Gulf of Suez, and is currently undergoing a trial period alongside the Al-Amal Petroleum company. At a cost of USD 8 million, the plant is part of Egypt’s continued efforts to achieve environmental compatibility and conserve resources.
Smart treatment plants such as these are characterised by ease of operation and maintenance, and are designed to achieve maximum efficiency while withstanding the harsh climatic conditions of their locations. These plants do not need as much construction and infrastructure compared to their traditional counterparts. The plant utilises modern technology that relies on advanced triple treatment, which includes physical, chemical, and biological treatment, in addition to water filtration units.
