New Reef Forum to Focus on Rural Development & Agriculture
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture will host a forum in Al Ahsa, focusing on empowering rural communities, sustainable agriculture and economic growth.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture will host the first International Forum for Saudi Reef in Al Ahsa from December 16th to the 18th under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province.
“The Forum is a pivotal event in advancing rural development, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Saudi Vision 2030,” said Dr. Maha Aldhahi, Head of the Forum’s Executive Committee. “It will support rural communities while contributing to global efforts and research on sustainable agriculture.”
Experts from around the world will discuss ways to keep rural areas economically viable, vibrant and sustainable, exploring innovations in agriculture and rural development.
The forum builds on the success of the Saudi Reef Program, a globally recognized initiative supported by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization. The program has already supported over 77,000 agricultural projects, boosted self-sufficiency in vital sectors by more than 65%, and created career opportunities for rural residents.
A key feature of the event will be a three-day exhibition, where local farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs will showcase traditional and modern agricultural practices. The exhibition will highlight how combining cultural heritage with new technologies can create sustainable livelihoods for rural communities.
