New Visit Visa Categories & Entry Permit Updates Introduced in the UAE

Four new visit visa categories have been introduced in the UAE, alongside amendments to entry permit regulations. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security confirmed that the new categories cover specialists in Artificial Intelligence, entertainment and events, and visitors arriving via cruise ships and yachts. These changes are part of broader updates to the country’s entry and residence framework.

The updates also include a humanitarian residence permit valid for one year, with the possibility of extension under specific conditions. A one-year residence permit will also be available to foreign widows and divorcees, renewable for an additional year. In addition, a new visit visa for friends or relatives up to the third degree will allow sponsorship based on the sponsor’s income.

The business exploration visa will now require proof of financial solvency to establish a company, ownership of shares in an existing company abroad, or evidence of professional practice. For truck drivers, visas will require sponsorship along with health and financial guarantees. The authority added that clear schedules will define the authorised duration of stay for each visa type and outline the applicable conditions for extension.
