At the Rafah border crossing, Egyptian Minister of Health Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar confirmed the availability of vaccines for polio, measles, rubella and mumps to vaccinate Palestinian children arriving from Gaza. The minister also stated that Egypt is prepared to receive and treat wounded Palestinians, and deploy medical teams to Gaza if requested, with a comprehensive map of health service locations in the Gaza Strip already in place.
Over the weekend, Abdel-Ghaffar, alongside Minister of Solidarity Maya Morsy, inspected the ambulance assembly and medical equipment at Rafah in preparation for transporting injured Palestinians. The facility is equipped with remote temperature detection devices, blood sugar monitors, and other medical tools.
The ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, mediated by Egypt, the United States and Qatar, is set to take effect on January 19th.
