Over 800,000 People Attended Cairo Opera House Events This Season
Last season featured numerous performances by international troupes, as part of an initiative between Egypt and other nations.
The Ministry of Culture has revealed that over 800,000 people attended 760 events held at various venues managed by the Cairo Opera House between September 1st and June 30th 2024.
Last season in particular featured numerous performances by international troupes, as part of a creative cooperation initiative between Egypt and other nations. These included the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra from Russia, the El-Zaher Bebars troupe from Kazakhstan, and the Rajeev Raja Jazz Band from India, as well as other groups from Greece, Spain, Germany, Hungary and South Korea.
Local troupes, like the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, also performed numerous times this season, but recitals were particularly prevalent, as more than 100 evenings featured solo voice or instrumental performances.
Famous faces such as Omar Khairat, Dina El-Wedidi, Ali El-Haggar, Hany Shenouda, Hany Shaker and Saad El-Oud, among others, made their presence on the Opera House stage.
The Opera also hosted the Cairo Short Film Festival, the International Symposium of Arts for People with Special Needs, the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre and the Cairo Monodrama Festival.
