Palestinian Artist Maisara Baroud on Display at Dubai's Zawyeh Gallery
Baroud’s ‘I’m Still Alive’ series is a testament of his will and resilience under Israeli occupation.
Palestinian artist Maisara Baroud’s limited-edition prints from his series, ‘I’m Still Alive’, will be on display at Zawyeh Gallery in Dubai’s Alserkal Avenue.
A reflection of his experiences living under occupation, Baroud’s ‘I’m Still Alive’ series emerged in the aftermath a personal tragedy: the destruction of his home and studio when the Israeli occupation forces launched its attack on Gaza in October. In the face of devastation, Baroud drew and posted online as a way to communicate the war’s atrocities and his enduring spirit, and that “[he] is still alive”.
Baroud’s work will be displayed and available for sale in the Dubai space along with smaller original works by young Palestinian artists, creating a dialogue of personal narratives articulating a collective experience within the Palestinian art scene.
