Phones With Unregistered Serial Numbers Will Cease to Work in 2025
Devices for which the required import fees were not paid will also be affected by these new rules.
The Mobile Phone Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce announced that mobile phones imported from abroad without paying the required import fees will stop working, starting in 2025. This includes devices that do not have a registered serial number with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA).
The NTRA has already started taking the necessary steps to enforce the decision. According to the announcement, current users of these devices may need to pay fees to ensure they remain functional, although this is still under consideration pending further discussion between the Mobile Phone Division and the NTRA.
