President El Sisi Addresses Israel-US Attack on Iran in First Speech

Speaking during the Armed Forces’ annual iftar commemorating the 10th of Ramadan victory anniversary, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi addressed concerns regarding the ongoing US-Israeli-Iranian conflict, saying that, for months, the nation sought to prevent escalation from reaching the levels seen in the last two days.

“Our efforts were genuine and well-intended, as miscalculations can have serious repercussions for states,” El-Sisi said, warning that continued conflict could undermine regional stability beyond the humanitarian dimension.

His speech comes a day after Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly announced he is reviewing the country’s strategic food reserves with the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade following joint Israeli–US strikes on Iran on Saturday, February 28th.

Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk confirmed the availability of “a safe stock of various essential commodities, sufficient for several months,” adding that efforts are ongoing to inject goods into markets and monitor prices to ensure “the necessary market discipline in the interest of citizens” and prevent “any monopolistic practices or unjustified price increases,” particularly during Ramadan.

Addressing domestic concerns, El-Sisi reassured citizens that Egypt has necessary reserves and was prepared for contingencies, though he acknowledged uncertainty over the duration of the crisis.
