Prince Charles & Duchess of Cornwall to Visit Egypt in November
As part of their first overseas visit since the beginning of the pandemic, Prince Charles and his spouse, Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles, will visit Egypt on November 18th & November 19th.
The British Embassy in Egypt has revealed that the Prince of Wales, Prince Charles, and his spouse the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles, will visit Egypt on November 18th and November 19th.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and First Lady Entissar Amer will welcome them at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Heliopolis ahead of a meeting with Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El Tayeb “for discussions and dialogue on religious harmony and the role of faith in preserving the environment,” according to the embassy.
Prince Charles and Camilla will also meet with craftspeople, conservationists, and young entrepreneurs during their stay, before attending a reception at the Great Pyramids of Giza on the final day of their tour.
Shortly before they arrive in Egypt, Prince Charles and Camilla will visit Jordan, where they will be greeted by King Abdullah and Queen Rania at Al Husseiniya Palace, and meet with humanitarian organisations under Prince Charles’ patronage to highlight Jordan’s role in hosting refugees. The trip to Jordan and Egypt will be their first overseas visit since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is their first visit to Egypt since 2006, when the pair toured Al-Azhar Mosque in the Old Cairo, Al-Azhar Park, the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, the Commonwealth cemetery in El Alamein, the Temple of the Oracle in Siwa oasis, and the Brooke Animal Hospital in Cairo.
