Riyadh Season to Host Skiing Festival With 500 Tons of Snow
SnowBlast KSA Cup will see 30 World and Olympic champions compete in freestyle competitions on a purpose-built slope.
In a city that regularly sees summer temperatures exceed 40C, Saudi Arabia is set to host a major international skiing festival in Riyadh from February 26th to the 29th. The inaugural SnowBlast KSA Cup will see over 500 tons of snow pumped into the performance arena for a blend of sport, creativity and artistry, contributing to what has certainly been a packed Riyadh Season calendar.
The event will feature a range of winter-themes experiences, promoting snowsports with performances and competitions. 30 World and Olympic champions will be featured in various skiing and snowboarding pursuits. The main slope will be 150 metres long and 20 metres wide, beginning at a height of around 30 metres. Contestants will compete in freestyle jump competitions, judged by a panel of world-class judges.
Winter activities and artistic performances for families and children will also be on the programme, beginning at 4 PM; think snowball battles, snowman building, simulated snowfall and musical performances suited for all ages.
