Royal AlUla Commission Unveils Video Game to Protect Arabian Leopard
‘Quest for Hope’ is intended to educate younger generations about the significance of wildlife conservation.
The Royal Commission for AlUla has unveiled a video game designed to raise awareness for the protection of the Arabian leopard, a critically endangered species endemic to Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Peninsula as a whole. ‘Quest for Hope’, a plug-in for Roblox and Decentraland, invites players to help protect and preserve this specific species of leopard, the smallest in the leopard subspecies.
The game is aimed at educating younger generations about the significance of wildlife conservation, especially for the dwindling numbers of Arabian leopards which were once widely distributed in the rugged hilly terrain of the peninsula until the 1970s.
While their numbers have been falling due to habitat loss and prey depletion, recent conservation initiatives for the Arabian leopard have recently shown progress, such as a breeding program in Taif that has resulted in the birth of several Arabian leopard cubs, one of which was named Hope.
