SFD Signed With Global Water Organization to Boost Water Projects
The Saudi Fund for Development and the Global Water Organization signed a memorandum to enhance international cooperation in financing water projects for sustainable development.
On October 7th, Mr. Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), signed a memorandum of cooperation with Dr. Fahad bin Saad Abu Mouti, Head of the Founding Team of the Global Water Organization. This memorandum aims to create a guide for international development cooperation, leveraging the Fund's expertise in financing water projects globally to support sustainable development goals.
"This memorandum represents an important step toward enhancing mutual cooperation between our organization and the Fund,” said Dr. Fahad Abu Mouti during the signing. “We look forward to implementing projects and initiatives that contribute to achieving sustainable development in the field of water globally."
Since its creation in 1975, the SFD has financed over 147 projects in the water sector and related areas, contributing more than $6.1 billion through loans and grants. Notably, the Fund has also drilled and equipped over 8,800 water facilities as part of its rural development initiatives in Africa, aligning with global growth and prosperity efforts to pave the way for sustainable water management worldwide.
