Saudi Arabia Confirmed as 2034 World Cup Host
FIFA has announced the hosts for the next two men’s World Cups.
Saudi Arabia has been officially confirmed as the host of the 2034 FIFA World Cup. This announcement follows FIFA’s decision to award the 2030 tournament to Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, signaling a notable shift in the international hosting landscape.
Saudi Arabia’s successful bid aligns closely with its Vision 2030 initiative, a national strategy aimed at diversifying the economy and enhancing its global presence. The Public Investment Fund (PIF) has played a central role in this transformation, channeling substantial resources into various sports ventures, including golf, Formula One, boxing, and esports. The country also owns Newcastle United, a prominent English Premier League team, and has made headlines for attracting world-renowned soccer players to the Saudi Pro League.
Preparations for the tournament are already underway, with Saudi Arabia planning to either build or renovate 11 stadiums and add 185,000 new hotel rooms to meet the demands of hosting a global event of this scale.
