Saudi Arabia Launches New Guidelines for Domestic Workers
The new rules set limits on a worker’s stay in the Kingdom if their employment is terminated due to absence.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced updates to its guidelines for domestic workers, specifically targeting potential grey areas in the termination of their contracts. The new rules are intended to improve the contractual relationship between workers and employers, maintaining the rights of both parties.
The recent announcement states that should a domestic worker have their employment terminated due to absence from work within two years of the worker’s entry into the Kingdom, then they must leave within 60 days, or risk facing punishment for violation of residency and work regulations.
