Sharqia's Tell Basta Museum Unveils Exhibit on Holy Family in Egypt
A temporary exhibition in Sharqia’s Tell Basta Museum highlights the Holy Family’s legendary journey through Egypt.
A new exhibition titled ‘The Journey of the Holy Family’ - covering the voyage through Egypt taken by Jesus, Mary and Joseph as they sought refuge from King Herod - has been unveiled at Tell Basta Museum in the governorate of Sharqia.
The temporary exhibition showcases various artefacts detailing the Holy Family’s time in Egypt, many of which were previously on display in the Coptic Museum in Cairo, including ancient manuscripts from the Old and New Testament.
Over the past few years, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has been restoring, developing and highlighting sites along the Holy Family’s trail such as Virgin Mary’s Tree in El Matareya and Abu Serga Church. The hope is to attract tourists to these significant sites, which can be found over 3,500km across eight governorates.
