Smoking Has Been Banned in All Health Facilities Across Egypt
Violations will result in fines for those in charge of the facilities, as well as the smokers themselves.

The Ministry of Health and Population has banned smoking in all its forms in health facilities, as well as in facilities belonging to the ministry, its institutions and affiliated bodies.
The ban is part of a national effort to protect the health and safety of citizens from the hazards of smoking. Violations of the ban will result in fines of no less than EGP 1,000 and no more than EGP 20,000 for those in charge of the facilities, and fines of no less than EGP 50 and no more than EGP 100 for smokers.
A high committee to combat tobacco will be formed, headed by the Minister of Health and Population, to develop anti-tobacco policies and coordinate efforts between ministries and institutions in monitoring their implementation.
The decision was made in accordance with Law No. 154 of 2007, as amended by some provisions of Law No. 52 of 1982 concerning the prevention of the harmful effects of smoking.
