English fine arts company Sotheby's is holding an ‘Egyptomania’ auction, featuring a slew of jewellery inspired by ancient Egyptian royalty. The sale actively channels the excitement of the Western world during the early 20th century, when artists across Europe and America created a slew of fashion, music and film inspired by the discovery of King Tut's tomb in 1922.
The auction includes pieces by Tiffany & Co. and Castellani, such as Castellani’s micro mosaic scarab accented necklace (estimated at USD 450,000 - USD 650,000).
The pieces will be auctioned off on December 7th at Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels sale. However, for those who just want to solely window-shop, the jewellery will be on display for the public: first in Dubai from September 26th to the 28th, and then at Sotheby's New York galleries from November 30th to December 6th.
