Stray Dog Shelter Under Construction in Cairo’s Tebbin District
A new facility in Tebbin will house stray dogs and introduce adoption services.
Construction has begun on a shelter for stray dogs in Cairo’s Tebbin district, with plans to introduce adoption services once the facility becomes operational.
The project is being developed on a 5,000 square metre site east of the Autostrad Road in Tebbin. The facility is intended to provide a refuge for stray dogs while addressing public safety concerns and incorporating animal welfare standards.
The shelter is being implemented in coordination with the General Authority for Veterinary Services and the Cairo Directorate of Veterinary Medicine.
Officials stated the facility is expected to be completed within four months. Once operational, the shelter will provide veterinary care through specialised medical teams and include designated areas for the care and monitoring of dogs.
Adoption services will be offered after animals are confirmed to be free of disease and have received required vaccinations.
The project is also being developed with input from animal welfare associations and privately operated shelters to exchange technical expertise and improve care standards.
